Bianca rose on the sound of pigeons cooing and traffic grumbling all the time below. As she yawned and stretched, she seriously considered what was waiting for her that day.

She felt her motivation slowly drain away with every deadline and commitment that zipped through her thoughts. As Bianca began to wither and wilt internally, she remembered the motivation pills she'd purchased last week from your Good Value Pharmacy.

There are yellow pills labeled 'Money', pink pills labeled 'Pride', green pills labeled 'Family', purple pills labeled 'Respect' and several ugly grey pills labeled 'Nagging Advice'. The initial step is to identify your values while they provide the fuel on your motivation and the drive behind all you do in life. If you want something you will always find the motivation and energy to get it done. If you don't value something, you'll always struggle to discover the motivation and energy to acheive it.

Your values are precisely what are important to you. They are the broad concepts that guide your decisions in your life and form the basis of your character. Your values also figure out how you spend your time. For example, if your most important value is health, you will spend your time quite differently from someone whose most critical value is career or family.

Values also drive all of your motivation. You won't pursue a strategy unless it relates to something you value at some level. Identifying your values allows you to kick-start your own motivation, set goals which can be appropriate and spend some time on things that you need.

How Your Values Are Formed

Your values result from a number of sources together with your family, friends, religion, school, teachers, country along with the media. They are also shaped without notice in your life by significant emotional events including natural disasters, emotional abuse, global depression or war.

Your values change as you grow and evolve. Whenever you change your values, additionally, you will change some of your beliefs and in what way you live life.

The best way to Identify Your Personal Values

Identifying your personal values helps you to:

-   Understand why some issues can be a problem for you;

Motivation

Your values drive your motivation. If you set goals that are aligned with your values, you will have the motivation to help you achieve them. In the event you set goals that are not in line with your values, it will likely be an uphill struggle to achieve them.

Motivation comes either from inside you (intrinsic motivation) or from an outside source (extrinsic motivation).

Sophia uses 'away from' motivation in terms of her weight. As a result she is the classic yo yo dieter. Her process goes this way. Sophia looks in the mirror and sees that she is overweight. She says to herself, 'I don't wish to be fat anymore'. She then proceeds a diet to ensure jane is no longer fat. (Jane is moving away from being fat). At some time she looks from the mirror and sees that she looks fantastic and is no longer fat. As jane is no longer fat, she's got just lost the foundation of her motivation (to no longer be fat). As there is will no longer any motivation, she not stays on the diet and discards her exercise routine. She will not be motivated to complete whatever she has to stay fit and healthy. At some point in the future she will view in the mirror and again constitute the judgment that she is fat and the process will start yet again.

When you are motivated faraway from something that you don't want in everyday life, you tend to focus upon the thing you don't want and that is what you attract into your life. As examples:

-   If you constantly inform yourself, 'I don't want to be broke', your focus is upon being broke which is where your unconscious mind will aim.
-   If you constantly notify yourself, "I don't want to be single", your focus is upon being single which is where your unconscious mind will aim.

Motivation faraway from what you don't want can inspire you, but it doesn't do this for long and you cannot be sure what results you will achieve. It can supply you with a fantastic initial boost of their time, but you can never guarantee where you stand going to end up as you do not possess a firm direction in your mind, just a place you need to get away from. If you use faraway from motivation in your life, you'll tend to create a compilation of crises to keep yourself motivated.

'Towards' Motivation

As an example, assume that 'money' was your highest value in terms of your career. You then ask yourself, "Why is the value 'compensation' important to me in relation to my career?"

Should your answer is, "Because I want to come up with a lot of money and are now living in luxury", the response would indicate 'towards' motivation with this value.

If your response is, "Because I don't want to be broke i have to be able to pay my bills", the response would indicate 'away from' motivation because of this value.

Your chances of achieving goals associated with 'money' are much greater if you work with towards motivation.

Should you have identified 'away from' motivation in terms of any of your values, you will discover:

-   This area of your life is one where you will experience the most difficulties;
-   You will never be achieving the results in el born area of your life that you might wish; and
-   There are unresolved issues to get cleared away and healed in relation to this area of your life when you will experience the success you desire.

This is wonderful information to possess as it identifies areas of your life for you to focus upon.

Difficulty with Motivation

We all experience issues with motivation at some point. Occasions when you just can't apparently find the desire to do items you know you should. The difficulties can arise because:
